With an unprecedented wave of book banning largely targeting topics of race and LGBTQ issues sweeping Texas, Florida, and beyond, librarians have suddenly found themselves front-line defenders of intellectual freedom. Seven-time HIFF alum Kim A. Snyder (2025 Academy Award® nominee for DEATH BY NUMBERS) spotlights the librarians leading an inspiring grassroots movement who are standing up against harassment, threats, and regressive laws aimed at criminalizing their work. Executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, THE LIBRARIANS engaged and enraged audiences at Sundance and SXSW with its exposure of a systematic attack on intellectual freedom and the unlikely everyday heroes leading the resistance.
A Q&A with the filmmakers is expected to follow both screenings.
