Documentary Competition, Conflict & Resolution
Back To Film Guide

Documentary Feature | Australia/USA/Ukraine | 2024 | Ukrainian/Russian | 87 minutes

Winner of the US Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, PORCELAIN WAR follows three Ukrainian artists who defiantly find beauty as they defend their culture and country. Amidst the chaos and destruction of the brutal Russian invasion, Slava Leontyev, Anya Stasenko, and Andrey Stefanov choose to stay behind, armed with their art, their cameras, and, for the first time in their lives, their guns. As the war intensifies, art and resistance intersect, and Andrey picks up his camera to document the delicate porcelain figurines that Anya and Slava create as a record of their idyllic past, uncertain present, and hope for Ukraine’s future.

Scheduled to attend: Slava Leontyev (co-director), Brendan Bellomo (co-director/subject), Anya Stasenko (subject), Paula DuPre’ Pesmen (producer)
