Academy Award® nominee Sandra Hüller narrates the poetic prose of Robert Macfarlane, whose book 'Underland' inspired this documentary about the unknown worlds beneath our feet. In this fascinating and meditative exploration, director Robert Petit and producer Darren Aronofsky follow the paths of three researchers into ancient sacred caves, melting glaciers, underwater burial chambers, and an underground scientific laboratory, seeking to unlock the secrets of the universe. While each works in a distinct field with different immediate aims, all are driven by a desire for the greater understanding of humanity and life on earth that we gain by looking underneath its surface.
