TURTLE WALKER

Air Land & Sea
Back To Film Guide

Documentary Feature | India/USA | 2024 | English, Hindi | 75 minutes

In January of 1977, a chance discovery of a sea turtle nest changed the course of Satish Bhaskar’s life. Dedicating his life to spearheading the efforts to protect the coastline and research sea turtles and their vital natural habitats, Bhaskar risked his safety to survey and map 2500 miles of India’s shores on foot in his commitment to safeguard the animals from extinction. With awe-inspiring visuals, director Taira Malaney powerfully recreates his early expeditions exploring the uninhabited beaches where sea turtles nest, and, decades later, introduces those working to continue his legacy after the devastating environmental effects of the 2004 tsunami.

A Q&A with director Taira Malaney is expected to follow the screening on 10/9.
