In 1973, twelve misfits from seven countries united to carry out charismatic Spanish explorer Vital Alsar’s impossible dream: to cross the world’s largest ocean on three handmade wooden rafts with only the stars and sun to guide them. Battling storms, sharks and psychological demons, the epic expedition took six months at sea and covered 9,000 miles from Ecuador to Australia, remaining the world’s longest ever raft journey. Now, fifty years later, director Chadden Hunter beautifully remasters the original 16mm footage of the voyage into 4K and finally gives the surviving raftsmen a voice with which to share their incredible story.
