East Coast Premiere

Documentary Feature | USA | 2025 | English, Juǀʼhoan | 98 minutes

Filmmaking legend Werner Herzog (INTO THE INFERNO, HIFF 2016) follows Dr. Steve Boyes through the wooded, mist-shrouded Bié Plateau of Angola in his search for evidence of an elusive herd of giant elephants, who have gone undetected by modern technology for decades. Boyes sets out with master trackers from Namibia to achieve his dream of seeing these mythical animals in reality, but soon encounters a deeper underlying ethical question: would it not be better to keep these gigantic elephants hidden from the threat of human contact? A National Geographic release.

A Q&A with producer Brian Nugent is expected to follow the October 12 screening.
