New York Premiere

Narrative Feature | Colombia | 2025 | Spanish | 123 minutes

Middle-aged, unemployed, and living with his mother, Oscar (brilliant first-time actor Ubeimar Rios) is a failed writer clinging to fantasies of greatness in the Latin American literary scene. Wandering the streets of Medellín drunk, he stumbles upon an opportunity to mentor a truly gifted teenage poet—but can he avoid screwing up his chance at redemption? Brought to life by Rios’ darkly comic lead performance, Simón Mesa Soto’s Cannes Un Certain Regard Jury Prize-winner is a raw and riotous farce about how good deeds are often met with the universe’s idea of cruel and unusually poetic punishment. A 1-2 Special release.
