After Israeli-American Liat Beinin Atzili and her husband Aviv are kidnapped from their kibbutz on October 7th, 2023, director Brandon Kramer observes different generations of his extended family as they grapple with conflicting perspectives on the agonizing situation. Kramer follows Liat’s father Yehuda as he travels to Washington D.C. to fight for the hostages’ release, thrusting the family into the global conversation. Winner of the Best Documentary Award at the Berlin Film Festival and produced by Academy Award® nominee Darren Aronofsky, HOLDING LIAT sensitively captures the moral complexities and intimate reflections of one family at the center of an evolving conflict.
