Jan Thomas has served his eight year term for the murder of a young boy, and is released back into society a rehabilitated man. His passion for the organ earns him a job at a local church, where he can indulge in his musical talent anonymously without the burden of community judgment for his conviction. Settling into his new life, he begins to forge a friendship with the pastor, Anna, and her young son. Despite a reticence to embrace intimacy and a looming fear that his secret will be discovered, Jan begins to believe that he has truly left his past behind him, and that his relationship with Anna will lead to an absolution that institutionalization could not. But true closure still lies beyond one fateful final encounter – because now Anna’s son is missing, and someone has been watching Jan.
